Queensland reels at huge cost of floods, NSW on alert

As floodwaters rose nearby Rockhampton and warnings of peep flooding were released in New South Wales, Queensland was yesterday counting a mountainous cost of this week’s disaster.

Vast areas of a state were inundated, forcing thousands of evacuations, destroying homes, isolating communities and harmful farms still struggling to redeem from a 2011 floods.

Agricultural organisations warned many farms competence not survive.

Six people died in a floods, and hunt and rescue teams were yesterday still checking for some-more probable victims in hard-hit areas of North Bundaberg, 400km north of Brisbane.
