State legislators return to Capitol with call for cooperation

LANSING — It was a day of bipartisanship and congeniality during a Capitol — and a distant cry from a malice of final month’s sore steep event — as 110 members of a state House of Representative were sworn in Wednesday.

From a scarcely unanimous support for Jase Bolger, R-Marshall, to lapse as speaker, to a brief meetings that Gov. Rick Snyder had with House and Senate Democrats, all seemed good inside a dome. Outside, however, legislators were possibly greeted or chastised by dozens of kinship activists still severe over some of a legislation pushed by final month, quite a right-to-work law.

“The past year has stretched relationships. However, we can, and should, leave that behind,” Bolger pronounced after he was re-elected
