Samsung Galaxy Note 2 LTE Android 4.1.2 Update Surfaces

Unlike a lot of manufacturers, Samsung has been working extremely hard at preparing updates for a lot of their devices, and the Galaxy Note 2 is no excuse to that. Android 4.1.2 has been being prepared for a while, and it seems as if the International Galaxy Note 2 is going to be the first version to get this glorious update. That is the version of the phone that supports LTE on 800, 1800 and 2600MHz bands, as opposed to the international 3G/HSPA version.

The firmware package from today comes from an unofficial Samsung update archive known as Samsung-Updates.com. This website reveals the update having a build number of N7105XXDLK7. The version that is currently available has Vodafone South Africa branding, but Android Central notes that this should not stop the firmware from working on other carriers’ Galaxy Note 2 devices. That is assuming that those carriers have the GT-N7105 model number.

It shouldn’t be that long before the update begins getting pushed out via an OTA (Over The Air) update. Earlier rumors suggested that the first Android 4.1.2 updates would begin in December. A tweet from Samsung Canada said that there was a lot of Jelly Bean goodness to come, so we can only expect that this will be coming really soon.

Other than that, there have been rumors that Android 4.2 has been in the works for the Note II, and we could be seeing a release for it in Q1 of 2013. Take that with a rather large grain of salt though, this was a report from a rather untrusted source. I wouldn’t discount the idea though, especially with the updates Samsung has been pushing out as of late.

Hopefully the update to Android 4.2 will be swift with the Galaxy Note II. Samsung’s actually been rather fast as of late, so it wouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see a couple months down the road.
