Cyclist and cancer survivor Lance Armstrong has stepped down as chairman of his Livestrong charity. Just minutes after the announcement, Nike terminated their sponsorship contract with him, citing “seemingly insurmountable” evidence that the controversial cyclist participated in doping.
Although Armstrong maintains his innocence, the U.S. Anti-Doping Administration has banned him from all competition and stripped him of his seven Tour de France wins.
Livestrong has raised nearly $500 million for cancer patients. Its yellow inspirational bracelets have been worn by millions.
