Hamza is also wanted for terrorist-related offences in America, but lawyers
have spent years fighting his extradition. In 2008, for instance, we
welcomed a High Court ruling that the US request was lawful and looked
forward to his imminent removal. But the legal action continued on human
rights grounds and only this week has the European Court in Strasbourg
rejected Hamza's appeal. That should be the end of the story, yet when it
comes to extradition nothing is ever straightforward.
