Yet too often elsewhere the songs blended into one another. White Blank Page
was tender as a semi-acoustic number, but its intimacy was soon bludgeoned
away by another epic chorus. At times, it sounded like a countrified
Coldplay, without the guile — though Chris Martin, perched two rows away
with wife Gwyneth Paltrow, seemed to be enjoying it.

The show's highlights were when the band loosened their grip on the anthemic
jugular. A shimmering Timshel was played unplugged, and the band displayed
an enviable mastery of the crowd, who fell deathly silent.

Dust Bowl Dance, meanwhile, went from gothic piano ballad to folk-thrash
wig-out, aided by a rudimentary
